The cars in Mr Bean
In Mr. Bean, cars are not just props: they are an integral part of the comedic universe. Whether it's Mr. Bean's iconic green and black Mini, or the legendary blue Reliant that suffers every possible mishap, each vehicle plays a unique role in the series' visual humor.
Mini MK II, the car of the beginnings
Mr. Bean's first car, an orange Mini MK II, what a beauty! It may have a few miles on the clock, but it's got character. It makes its appearance in the opening credits of the first episode. We see it for the last time during the closing credits… of the same episode!
Bean subjected this Mini to some aggressive driving, during which he made a habit of crashing into road signs, skidding and leaving no chance for the Reliant Regal.
The Mini MK II is wrecked at the end of the pilot episode. Driving at high speed, Mr. Bean fails to notice the dead end he's just entered, causing the accident. The driver of the blue Reliant narrowly avoids the crash when he sees the Mini's wheel come off.

Mini 1000, the most famous of the Minis!
Mr. Bean's Mini 1000 is a true icon of the series; this little lime green and black car made its appearance in episode 3, " The Misfortunes of Mr. Bean ," after the Mini MK II's accident. And it quickly became an essential element, at the heart of so many memorable scenes!
From its very first sketch, the Mini is at the center of the action. Mr. Bean, ever the cunning one, tries to leave a parking lot without paying… It's the poor blue Reliant that, as often happens, will pay the price!
Among the most hilarious moments, we certainly remember the episode " Mr. Bean's Misadventures ." Running late for his dentist appointment, Mr. Bean gets dressed while driving. Quite a show! And what about " The Fortune of the Pot "? Mr. Bean, ever the inventive one, puts an armchair on the roof of his Mini and drives on it!
The Mini 1000, also equipped with a lock and a removable steering wheel for added safety, ends up crushed by a tank in " Mr. Bean Goes Back to School ." But, thanks to the magic of television, the Mini 1000 makes its grand return in the last two episodes.
A fun little detail: several green and black Minis (at least three) were used during the filming of the series. If you'd like to learn more about the Mini's fascinating history, I highly recommend this very comprehensive article.

Reliant Regal, Mr. Bean's favorite victim
The three-wheeled Reliant Regal Supervan III is another iconic car from the series! It makes regular appearances, and its fate is often… let's say, eventful. These situations become a fun running gag.
The Reliant driver is an enemy of Mr. Bean, though his identity remains unknown. It all started in the very first episode, when Mr. Bean, stuck behind the Reliant, almost missed his exam.
Therefore, when Mr. Bean's Mini crosses paths with the Reliant, the latter is very likely to end up on its side! In the episode " Mr. Bean's Mini Golf ," the friendly driver of the blue car opens his door to Bean, who is hitchhiking. But Bean, stubborn as ever, continues to stick out his thumb, ignoring the offer.
The encounter between the anonymous driver's Reliant and Bean's Mini will undoubtedly remain among the most comical moments of the series!
